I searched a few problems that my Computer was having on Google and did not find an answer. I'm hoping someone on this forum can help me. Here are some of the problems I'm experiencing.

The problems are random, sometimes they don't occur for hours and sometimes they start within 5 minutes of connecting to the internet (dialup).

    One of two things happens:

    (1) The computer disconnects from the internet and there is a "Generic Host Process for Win32" error message. After which, I cannot connect to the internet again because it doesn't detect a modem.

    (2) Internet Explorer and the Task Manager fail to open. Sometimes Firefox will refuse to open.

Also, there are a couple of programs the don't work properly:

Frontpage - I can open program but it doesn't respond when I try to open a file with it.

Jasc Animation Shop - I can save a file but the program won't let me use the drop down list to save to another folder.

Those are specific examples that I found. Any help would be appreciated.

BigRed - welcome to the forum. Our posting rules call for a 'meaningful title' - something specific to the problem. However, I can see how it would be tough with the variety of stuff you have going on. I changed it for you to something I hope is more specific.

There are some virus & malware critters around that will do the sorts of things you mention. Are you running up-to-date AntiVirus protection? Any AntiSpyware protection?
