cant find drive d but now have a drive e!!!!

    xp has decided it wants to ignore my dvd drive d and has instead put my printer in as drive e how do i get it back i cant use my cd/dvd drive at all even though it is in the doss menu and the boot from menu.

    Right-click > My Computer > Manage. Select Disk Management and see what shows up there. Your DVD drive should be there. You can assign it any unused drive letter.

    If your printer has ports for connecting a camera, it might see it as a storage device. I've seen that in Win2K.

    tried to no avail

    tried this but pioneer drive was not on there. at the top it lists disc c only, underneath it lists disk c as disk 0 and disc 1 as removable disk e no media. right click on this it told me disk 1 is my printer usb device, device type is disk drive, location-on usb mass storage device. no pioneer drive anywhere!!! Can't understand it if you tellit to boot from the pioneer drive it does so quite happily but once windows is running it won't find it. please I need more help I'm pulling my hair out!!!!!!!!!!!!!! in the computer management bit it says disk drives are printer and SCSI disk device I cannot find the pioneer drive at all.
