Running WinME. For about two weeks now every time I do a Restart/Closedown the computer shuts down then on restart announces the need to scandisk. Shortly after beginning the scandisk the computer freezes. Clicking cancel opens Windows with no problem, and Scandisk run from Accessories shows no problem at all. What is going on?

    Scandisk

Something's hanging around in memory. Before you shut down, hit CTRL-ALT-DELETE to bring up task manager and see what's loaded. Also, run an updated virus scan and spyware scan.

Spyware & virus checks carried out daily -- no probs there. I'll do the 3-finger salute and check running items, ....

Just to close this item. Repaired a disk error in scan disk -- problem gone away [?]
