Sorry if this question has already been asked.

I'm trying to print photos from a Kodak program but I get an error message stating:
"There was an error writing to LPT1 for the printer (Lexmark 1020 Colour Jetprinter). Cannot access the port. It may be in use by another program. Quit programs and try again. "

Can anyone tell me how to fix this?

    Thanks in advance. :)

    Turn on the printer?
Unplug paralllel cable, and plug back in.
Unplug printer power and plug back in.
Delete all pending print operations, go to Control Panel\Printers, right click your printer and select Properties to get to the pending jobs.
    BTW, LPT1 = Parallel Port

can you get any other software (at all) to print OK on that printer, pls?

also, is the printer the only device on the parallel port? - for instance, have you got a scanner connected between the computer and the printer?

    best wishes, HJ

I did manage to get one page of text to print. However now all I get is the same error.
I did have a scanner on that port, but I uninstalled the program and drivers and whatnot for it, which worked on the last computer I had this problem with.
I've now gicen up on the photo printing, and taken them to get professionally done.

    Hi

although it seems a bit like chickening out  you may have been wise - Lexmarks can tend to be very picky about the mode which your parallel port is set to (LPT/ECP/EPP).

It can be a nightmare to debug, particularly when there is (or has been) a scanner (and associated driver) involved.

    best wishes, HJ
