    :( Hello.
I have New Dell w/XP and IE 6.0. I've tried to set up where whenever I click on the IE icon, I automatically dial up. It doesen't work, though. It works on my friends PC though.
Also, when I do get on line, the litte computer icon that shows that you are on line does not show up in my task bar.
It makes it difficult to know if you made it online or not, and also makes it hard to get back off line.
    Your help is appreciated! Thanks.

To get IE to dial you may need to delete your current dialup connection (write down ALL the various settings) and use the wizard or manually make a new dialup connection.
As for the Modem connection icons in the taskbar, this should be the default when making a new connection. But if it isn't the default you can tick the "show icon in notification area when connected" box under tools|internet options|connections|settings|properties
