Hi there... I can't figure out how to turn off the automatic folders that keep reappearing in "My Documents" (i.e.: My pictures, my music, my videos, etc.).

I'm doing some work on our server - and I don't want Windows to automatically replace those folders each time the machines turn on. Can you tell me how to disable that feature (I've got three machines that run Windows 2000 and two that run Windows XP)?

    Thank you.

M Gray--I have never done this, but a search on www.google.com resulted in this suggestion in several references. Here is the quote from one.
"In a typical XP system the My Videos and My Music folders will be recreated if deleted from the My Documents folder. Here's how to delete them forever.

    Directions
If you do not want the various subfolders such as "My Videos" and "My Music" from being recreated, just follow these directions.
    Open My Documents

    Disable --

    1. Click Start
    2. Click Run
    3. Type the following in the run textbox regsvr32 /u mydocs.dll (note spacing)
    4. Click OK

Now you should be able to delete those folders. But you may also find that My Documents shortcut icon does not work anymore. So after deleting those folders you do not want,

    Re-enable --

    1. Click Start
    2. Click Run
    3. Type the following in the run textbox regsvr32 mydocs.dll
    4. Click OK "
I see you say some machines run Win 2000. I would think this would also work for it, assuming Win2000 has a mydocs.dll file. However, I do not know if Win2000 uses the regsvr or regsvr32 command.
