Can I go directly to the destop without logging on?? If I do have to log on how can I change my username? Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated....Thank you!

If it is the Windows logon, just putting in your name and clicking OK without a password should prevent it from coming up again. If it still does, try deleting all password files {*.pwd} and try again.

If it is the network sign-on, you can remove the Client for Microsoft Networks from your Network options in the Control Panel and just use Windows logon.

If you have specified under the Passwords applet in the Control Panel that all users have the same desktop, then it makes little difference what you put in for a name when signing in.

Some tweaking programs (TweakUI) have options for automatic logon, too.

Okay, it's the microsoft client login...Can I remove the login and keep the client?

There is only 2 people in this household and we are not exactly logging into a domain, but the microsoft client is needed to use our high speed internet connection. Can we remove the login so the pc will just boot straight to windows without removing the client? We never use a password to logging anyway so what's the use?? Thanks....Joe

    Yes, keep the client.
You are only changing the way to log onto windows, doing this will not remove it. You do this where is says 'Primary Network Logon'. You will be prompted to reboot.
BTW, while you are there in Network, Select the TCP/IP protocol for your network card. Click on Properties. Then choose the Bindings tab. Uncheck the box next to File and Printer Sharing if present.
    Then Ok.
