You are right Ramona about the IE\OE thing. Since I use IE\OE that is the one I explained how to do.

I discovered how to do that by accident one day while nosing around in the computer because I was bored.

I happened to think about cookies & figured that if you could restrict the site, then it would probably restrict the cookies also, so I decided to try it. I sure was glad I did. It worked! Of course it took me a few times to figure out exactly how the name of the site had to be put in there for it to work, but I was like a bulldog with a bone, I wasn't about to give up. And doubleclick was my inspiration. :D

Yep, I know that somebody out there probably already knew you could do that, but I'd never read anything on it. Sometimes it's nice to discover something on your own without someone else's help, unless it causes a crash of course. :D

I made a whole bunch of them little cookies crumble. :D Cookie crumbs, ummmmmm good!

    Deloris.

    Hey Deloris,

    You go girl!

It is indeed exhilarating to make a discovery all on your own, and looks as if you made a good one. I'm with you, I luv cookie crumbs!

On Doubleclick Opt Out, I think AA used to include a statement something like:

"Doubleclick-optout cookie found and ignored "

    Ramona :D

Yes, it is a bit self pleasing to discover something all on your own. :) Even if it isn't anything new, but it was new to me. :)

Wonder why AA would do that?

Sure hope brett comes back & reads about how to dump them cookies in the milk glass in IE & melt em down. :D

    Deloris.

    I may :D

An easier way is to use IE-SPYAD. It does all the hard work for you :D

Have a look around the rest site too - you'll find lots of useful things. EBURGER is especially handy.

I have doubleclick.com listed as a restricted site in IE Security.

I just never had any trust in the doubleclick.com-opt out cookie...

I guess it reminded me of the opt-out on spam.... I never touch it. :D

Check out the link to IE-SPYAD in my post above. It provides an easy way to put a host of other nasties, besides DoubleClick, into the Restricted Zone.

    Gianna - thanks!

I don't really trust that opt-out cookie either and it's pretty easy to just exclude them in IE6 security. I think that's a better method since it's already in place and waiting to be used.

I still apprecite Ad-Aware for doing the initial detection though and the price is right.

I really installed all those I did find in this website without any problem... but of course the choice is yours!

    Cheers :)

    I installed IE-SPYAD.

Now on most sites I get the message "Do you want to allow software such a ActiveX controls & plugins to run? "

I then setup all my "Trusted Sites" with anything to do with ActiveX enable but still get the message.. now I have enabled everything to do with ActiveX in the Restricted Sites and I still get the message?

Unless you have a suggestion I'm going to uninstall IE-SPYAD and see if I can get my IE browser back to normal.
