need to uninstall home networking software

Like an IDIOT, I allowed Windows XP Home Edition to start setting up a home network. I have absolutely NO need for a home network. Each computer in the house connects directly to the cable modem through a Linksys Etherfast Cable/DSL Router. Now my computer runs slower than molasses-in-January. I want to uninstall the home networking software, but have been unable to find out how to do it. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

eomans - Welcome to the Board :)

Although you posted in the XP forum I think your problem will be better served in the Networking forum - I have moved it there.

I was just about to ask if I needed to run the XP Wizard and run a disk on all the computers in my peer to peer network. It works just fine. I put all the settings in by hand. What exactly does the xp wizard do?

Have you tried just setting up the network all over again? I made a mistake in one of my early settings and just did that. But I don't know what the wizard adds so I can't really be trusted on this issue.

There is no way to remove the Network Setup Wizard. The Wizard is part of Windows XP. If you wish not to be part of a network then do not share anything out. You'll still share the Internet. Since you are behind a router tell the wizard to connect through a residential gateway (router). That might fix it.

You really cannot go wrong running the Wizard that you cannot easily fix yourself manually without the wizard. This is what the Wizard does depending on the options you tell it. Details here.

What is the Network Setup Wizard in Windows XP? Do I need to run it?
