    Hello,

I have a compaq windows 2000 server with a scsi raid array divided into c: and e: drives.

I would like to increase the size of the system c: partition by another 5gb. Can partition magic do this? or should I buy a different product? I have looked at the info on the symantec website but it doesn't give much detail.

also, if I can successfully increase the system partition, I want to add a large IDE drive to the machine. Could I then merge the remaining space on the scsi drives with the ide drive to make some kind of simple volume?

The data it will store is not critical so I dont need resilience.

    Thanks

Just found out PM wont work on Windows Server (after paying £50 for a download - should have read the small print i suppose). Does anyone know of any other product that does?

    Thanks

    hello,

It seems to be right, but you suppose to use PM in its DOS version. You can
install PM on some other machine running Win98 for example and install the 2
PM emergency diskettes. Afterwards, you can run PM on your machine using those diskettes. You probably have to do these operations - as shown in this picture.

It's also possible, if you have only Win2000 Server installed, that PM refuse to
load while detecting Win 2000 Server as active , so you have yet 2 ways to work around:
1 - use fdisk to create still another primary 5G DOS FAT32 partition, make it active - that is Win 2000 will be inactive and hidden, then run PM in DOS to do what you wish. This is a trick to make PM load in DOS. Afterwards, you can convert the new 5G FAT32 to NTFS and use Merge from PM menu to increase your Win 2000 Server partition.

2 - uninstall Win2000 Server, use PM to increase your C partition and reinstall Win 2000 Server

good luck and please keep us posted

    Stefan

Thanks for the help from both of you. As my firm were paying I bought the Acronis product which did the job exactly as I needed.
