Today I went into add/remove programs to remove something and found that I couldnt due to the fact that there are no remove buttons for any of the software installed on my machine.

I am not sure what caused this nor where to look to fix it. Any help would be appreciated. I have no spyware/viruses as I have scanned for all that and my signitures are all up to date.

    Regards,

Run Regedit and drill down to :
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\

If they're not listed there, you've lost them forever probably. You'd need a backup copy of the Registry or a partition image to get them back.

If they are still listed, then you have some hope. Running sfc /scannow might get the functionality back. Else, a Repair Install might work.

You need to verify that you haven't used some 3rd party tool or permissions limitation to restrict access also. I'm not sure what that would be though.

FireDancer--I understand you still have all the programs installed, but they are not showing in Add/Remove.
Did you install some new soft/hardware just prior to this problem? You might try a System Restore to a date before the problem started.
As far as removing that one program, you could reinstall it and see it you now have the ability to uninstall. (And whether it appears in Add/Remove Programs.)

    Hey there,

Hmmmm choices to make, if I system restore I run the risk of FUBARing a program my wife uses. I would rather do a repair of XP but when I put my XP CD in I get to the screen where it asks you if you want to install a new copy or repair I het R for repair and then it asks me if what volume to repair. There is only one choice that is #1 C:\Windows. So I hit 1 and ENTER then it askes me to enter admin password so I do that then it goes to the C Prompt from there I am not sure what to do to get it to repair.
