I'm going to be visiting my mother soon (she has Windows XP Home), and I'd like to download the notorious "SP2" and burn it to a CD on my computer first, so I won't have to deal with the time-consuming part of the process (the download itself) when I'm there.
I've gone to the microsoft.com/downloads site, but I can't seem to find a plain old "Service Pack 2" download. There's a "Windows XP Service Pack 2 for IT Professionals and Developers" listed, but the accompanying description says, "This installation package is intended for IT professionals and developers downloading and installing on multiple computers on a network ", and my mother just has a single computer.
Can someone steer me in the right direction, please? I've got WinME on my computer, but I think that as long as I'm just downloading (vs. installing) the file for her, I shouldn't be wreaking any havoc with my own system, is that right?
    Thanks!

That is the one to download. It is a big file but when you run it only the files needed will be installed to the computer. I personally used that download and it worked for my computer.

Chuck_W told you right. The wording about 'IT Professionals' and 'multiple computers' is intended to convince home users to do an online install which uses less of Microsoft's bandwidth since only the pieces needed by the PC would be downloaded.

I like the download, store on my media, install method lots better so even if your mother had a super high-speed connection your idea is still the one to pick.

Thanks, Newt! I, too, like to save downloaded programs/files on my computer, just in case I need to reinstall or anything, but I'd never attempted it with Windows Updates before.
Hopefully the installation will go smoothly on my mother's computer - if not, at least I know where to turn to for help! :D
