I have noted on my tif's page that all of the cookies that I allow stored no longer have the .com or .net extension. I can no longer click on them and open a page as I could when the extension was there. Any thoughts as to what is going on. I have re-booted, I have done a system restore.

I have another forum that I post on that will lot allow me to syat l;ogged on. I log on, attempt to post and am logged off.

I would certainly appreciate any insight into this problem.

RickyD2---Are you sure you are talking about cookies in TIF?
Cookies actually have the .txt file extension. (Right click|Properties to see this under "Cache name ")
The .com or .net part is just a part of the cookie's name.
What file extension do they have now?
I cannot explain why you cannot open these cookies if you have been able to do so in the past. I never could open cookies in TIF without a very threatening message about this being dangerous.
However, I can open cookies (in Notepad since they are .txt files) in C:\Documents and Settings\UserName\Cookies. These are the real cookies.
P.S. I must admit it is a little weird that you can no longer see the .com or .net in the TIF cookies' names. I wonder if a check in the box "Hide Extensions" in Windows Tools|Folder Options|View tab would have any effect on this.

I'm talking about the cookies one finds under tools/internet options/settings/view files.

The cookies located there have no file extensionsuch as .com or .net.

    Click on properties where?

I did a cookies search and deleted every one of them and am starting over but the ones I have restored have no file extension.

    Thanks

Windows Explorer > Folder Options > Tools > View > 'Hide extensions for known file types' - uncheck if checked and OK out.

RickyD2--Yes, those are the cookie (images) in TIF. So what I and PeteC have suggested is still pertinent.
It really is not too important, but if you right click on one of those cookies, then Properties, you will see that they are .txt files. But perhaps the .com or .net appears in the Name box?

No - all credit to Welshjim - I merely emphasised the point he made.
