I got a song from itunes that is .M4P that I cannot seem to play in anything but itunes player. It shows it as MPEG4, if that means anything. I would like to burn it and play it in CD player in my car or in the house. I need some application that can change it to something else. Maybe .MP3

    wahlroot,

There are a couple of ways you can do this... First open the iTunes software, while in 'Library' view, right click on one of the songs you want to convert to .mp3 and you should see an option for this in the context menu. (You may want to make a copy of the original files because this method will convert the original.)
Second, you can use a program such as Nero (or Roxio), these will convert the files to burn to an 'audio' CD in the proper CDA format. Unless you have a CD player that specifically plays .mp3 files this is the method that you need to use.
Almost anything you need to know about burning CDs can be found HERE . HTH

I tried the itunes thing, but because it is a protected file, it cannot be changed. Nero and Roxio cannot see that file. I cannot make any of these work.

    wahlroot,

Here's what you need to do... First open iTunes, then select the tunes you want to burn to disk (hold the 'ctrl' down and click each individual song). Then go to the menu... click File, then select 'New Playlist from Selection', this will bring up a new window with the songs you selected. Go back to the 'File' menu and select 'Burn Playlist to disc'. Put a CD-R in your burner and click 'Burn Disk'. Sorry I didn't get this right the first post, but I had never burned any of the stuff I had bought at the iTunes store (I use the iPod in the car). Now if you want to turn these into .mp3 files, rip the CD-R you just burned using CDex or similar program. (I'm listening to the CD I just burned using this method :D)

    Solved

Well Mr B I burned the song with itunes the way you said. It burned with a .cda extension. This is the same as songs on some of my purchased CD that I have. Works in my CD players in the car and my house, so I will stick with it for now. Thanks for your help.
Do not know how I got three replies. Sorry about that. I do not know how to get rid of the two extras.
