First of all, thanks guys for answering my questions.

    Here's my problem:

I've had XP since September.. no problems at all until now. When I booted up my computer this morning I started having some problems. Here is what I have:

    1) When I try clicking on any programs on the desktop or anywhere else, it will take about 20 clicks to get the program to start up.

    2) When I get into I.E Explorer 6.0, everytime i go to a different website it will lock up for about 10 seconds before it lets me scroll down the page.

Do youguys know how I could fix the problem?
    What the problem could be?

    Thanks!

    First echelon procedure.

Open the My Computer applet and right click your boot drive. Then select Properties > Tools and run the Error Checking utility.

If it finds nothing wrong then go to the My Computer Icon and right click it. Select Properties > System Restore Tab and follow the directions there to restore the system to a point in the past where the problem didn't exist. If the problem just started today then look for a restore point of early yesterday perhaps.

    Good luck.

Well I have two options.. scan for problesm or automatically fix file system errors.

Also, when I do the system restore... it only says "apply ".. it gives no specific time date... how do you fix that?

1.) Do the automatically fix file errors. It will require you to reboot and it'll then run the checkdsk program in DOS mode before loading WindowXP.

2.) There should be some dates listed for Restore Points unless you have it disabled. Look harder.

I think I steered you wrong.

System Restore is also accessible on START > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore.

I've found that you can also get to System Restore by going to Help and typing in System Restore. Then scroll down to the right selection. That will start the Wizard that guides you through the process.

I have mine disabled so I had to stumble around for a while here but now I'm back on track.

I use another method for recovery.
