    Anybody come across this before?

I had the misfortune to drop my Maxtor OneTouch the other day while it was powered up - failed to see it was attached to the laptop and walked off with the laptop :(

I know its bust, but when powered up the drive plays a musical jingle

Never come across this before - anybody else heard this?

Sorry Pete, you have given me the mental image of a young child walking around with a pull-along toy...you know the ones...they play a musical jingle.
    :D :D :D

It may be letting you know that it is powered up, but cannot function correctly. Like BIOS beeps.

When I looked at the Maxtor website I am certain I saw special utilities for those drives. Maybe get and run those if you do not have them already.

You may only get an error message:
"This drive is now only suitable as a pull-along toy "
    :D

    Matt

I always wanted a set of wind chimes for my office from old platters from dead drives. Sounds like you've got a head start on me!
