    I’ve used Netscape since version 2.0 beta, along with Eudora as my email program. Up through Netscape 4.5, whenever I clicked on an email address in a browser window, Eudora was used. Since loading Netscape 7, even though Eudora is set as my default email program, the Netscape email window is opened. I cannot find a preference setting that controls this. I’m using Windows XP SP2, Netscape 7.2, and Eudora 4.2. I did a Google search, but the suggested solution seems to be for an older version of Windows. I did check the Registry and:

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\mailto\shell\open\command] is set to "Eudora.exe /m %1â€

    Any help greatly appreciated.

    Welcome to the Forum, ppost!

    ppost,

    Have you added this setting in about:config:
    network.protocol-handler.external.mailto with a Value of true

    OR

    You can add the line to your prefs.js file:
    user_pref( "network.protocol-handler.external.mailto ", true);

    Before editing either about:config or the prefs.js file, backup your prefs.js file first.

    Before editing the prefs.js file ensure that both Netscape and Quick Launch are closed.

    Adding Mailto Preference did not solve problem

    I added:

    network.protocol-handler.external.mailto with a Value of true

    using about:config, but there is no change. When I click on an email address in Netscape 7.2, the Netscape Mail window is displyed along with a pop-up that demands that I set up a mail account in Netscape.

    In Netscape 4.x, when I clicked on an email address, Eudora was loaded. I would like the same thing to happen in Netscape 7.

    Any other suggestions?
