From a friend on another forum
I explained the DSO issue and asked for a HJT log. Other than a couple of 016 entries that Google never heard of, I can't see any signs of problems which makes me worry but also tells me I'm over my head.

I will send this link to John and suggest he sign up (if he hasn't already) and see what sort of help he can get from folks who know this stuff lots better than I do.

    Newt--
I assume that means you know, and have told your friend, that an old version of SpybotS&D might pick up 5 DSO Exploits which were subsequently defined as false positives.
About Blank is usually a variant of CoolWebSearch. Perhaps CWShredder would help or probably the experts have more up to date and specific techniques. Strange nothing shows in the R0 line.
All the suspect O16 lines can be deleted. They are ActiveX controls. Their source can be seen in IE Tools|Internet Options|General tab|
Settings|View Objects|right click on each|Properties. That should show the source on the CodeBase line. And a right click offers to remove. Even if a desireable one is removed, it will be replaced the next time it is needed.
As you say, the experts will know what other items should be deleted.
