My laptop is windows XP home edition, and I just setup norton 2005. The problems are:
    1) can not open IE
    2) can not open control panel
    3) can not open the "my computer" icon
    4) when I tried to open any of the above a messege comes up that says there is a error and need to shut down and ask me if I want to send a error report.
the MS office can be opened. I scanned virus with norton but it showed no serious problems.
Please tell me how to fix these troubles without using recovery CD.

Run System Restore and select a time prior to the Norton Install.

That's the point, I don't want to run system restore 'cause I can't get the disk to install norton again. what I'm asking is is there any other way?

    Why not?

Norton is notorious for problems installing a newer version w/o getting rid of an older one. Did you have a older version installed? If so, go to the Symantec site for instructions and a downloadable uninstaller.

I'm running an older version of NAV, when the sub runs out, I'm going to do a clean re-install of XP, that's how bad it is :p

    Regards - Charles
