    Hi All,

Been using Firefox successfully now for several months, but I still have to go to IE for some websites. The problem is that FF appears to hide some of the site's radio buttons.
For example - When I go to Amazon and select a book to buy, the button to go to the checkout is missing, but I can move the mouse cursor around the place where I know that the button should be, it turns into the hand, and I can click on the invisible button.
Also the links and pictures on some bulletin boards are not shown.
Is there a means of configuring FF to show all these missing things?

    Roger

    Roger,

What are your settings in Tools | Options | Web Features ?
Ensure that Amazon isn't included in any exceptions list in this setting.
Are you using extensions, or a Theme other than the default?
Are you spoofing your user agent?
Do you have cookies enabled for this site?
Is your Firewall by chance blocking Firefox from receiving the entire page content? Try disabling the Firewall to see if it makes a difference.

All the above can cause the type of problem you are describing. I tried each setting, enabling and disabling, and the only way I could not see the Proceed to Checkout, was if I disabled everything in the Images settings.

What version of Java do you have installed?

    Ramona

Think you might have an image "block" active.
    Click on "Tools|Options|Web Features "
See "Load Images" phrase and Click on "Exceptions ".
In Exceptions scroll list look for an entry g-images.amazon.com with "Blocked" attribute. If there, click once to high light and click "Remove from site ". Load Amazon site and see if "checkout button is now displayed.
    Also .....
If using Adblock, can cause the same problem.
Key in Ctrl+Shift+P for "Preferences" view and look for any entries with g-images.amazon.com ... if any there delete them.

    Hi Ramona,

I have no exceptions in the web features for images, using the default theme with no spoofing, cookies are enabled and I get auto log-in. The firewall, ZAPRO, isn't the problem, and my java is 1.4.2_06. Weird isn't it!

    Dennis L,
Thanks for the tip, I hadn't thought of Adblock. However, I cleared all the Adblock filters to be certain, and it didn't make any difference.

In fact I have now realised that it is not just buttons that are missing on the Amazon site, but also the titles of books that are recommended. Still, I suppose that they may also be images.

Amazon is not the only site affected, none of the links to photos in the Popular Photography forums show up either!

It is the typical way that the new programs are trying to help you in not getting undesirable stuff. I have been seeing thing for at least one year with many mail clients not allowing images, by default. My suggestion is look for something yellow, indicating a secure site. But, I went through the entire process, except for ordering, and there was a "Place your order" button at bottom right of the summary. Do you mean that there is nothing there?
No, I have never seen anything that, and I would expect Images to be missing, and not titles. You may want to download the new and safer Firefox1.01, uninstall the present program, and then install the new program. This may be of the few cases when I would recommend this process. But, uninstall first, and restart the computer, as well.

    Tried that twice!!!
Once without removing the program folder, and once removing that too.
I am still getting the same problem of no buttons being visible, and when I go to the Pop Photography forums the windows do not even enlarge to make space for any images as they do in IE.
Looks as though I shall have to use IE for certain sites.

    Roger :(

I have no idea what you did. I will go over the post, and see if I can understand what you are saying. Can you give a link to Pop Photography. I don't know what it is. I did a Search, and came up with a magazine site, which has a forum.
So, you don't see picture with Firefox? . I am not talking about the private albums. Or this one . Or, any other picture, for that matter.
I have no idea what your problem is, and the information you provide is not useful.

    Hi Westside,

Confusing isn't it! First Firefox - With your first link,to the reader's gallery, the pictures show up no problem, and clicking a thumbnail produces the larger image. Going to Pop Photography with the second link, the first frame in the dialogue has text only, and the frame fits the text. No picture!

Going to the same forum, same topic, using IE, the frame enlarges to my full screen, and the picture being discussed is loaded.

    Roger,
I can think of only one item. Did you make changes in your Tools|Options|
Web Features|Advanced. Somw people, like me had been unchecking some of the controls with no clear understanding of the effect. If you made changes, try to restore the check marks. I could do it, but, I don't time nor have a problem. If you made changes, it may be educational. Otherwise, I don't know why it would happen to you.
