I tried to build a booting self install Cd disk for windows XP. I followed "Fred Langa's" instruction's from his web site. Everything seemed to go okay; however; when I attempt to boot from the CD; I get the following message.
"Multiple Image Cd Rom - select Boot entry 0-/:0" I've tried pushing every key on the key board; but my computer just by passes the Cd and boots of the HD.

What could I have done wrong?

Do you have a link to the information you used to create the cd? I have done this before using some other instructions and haven't had any problems. It sounds like it was an incorrect setting in the burning software.

Ok. I haven't had time to read through all of that, but it isn't a walk through like I was thinking of. Here is the site that I used when I created my disks.

    http://flyakite.msfnhosting.com/

It says that it is for creating a Multi-Boot DVD, but the steps work for cd's as well. Maybe this will help you out.

Thank you. I will have a look at it. I was going to make a second effort as at this point I don't have a bootable Cd; just floppies. The reason I posted this question was to see if someone maybe knew what mistake I made in my first attempt.

Tried it again using "Fred Langa's" method and it worked the second time. Don't know what I did wrong the first time! Main thing is that it works.

Looked at your link; started to set up everything that I would need; when it came to downloading the "CD Shell 2.0.11" program; the link wouldn't work. Went to Google and probably tried 6 or more different sites; came up empty handed. Murphies law!! Went back to Fred and was successful.

The proper link for the site at Fred Langa's page is
    http://www.informationweek.com/showArticle.jhtml?articleID=47212312

I think that it is a bit easier than your site as it doesn't involve downloading or using external programs. All one needs is a Xp installation disk/file and Sp2.
If you read through Fred's directions; I think that you will find that he is very informative and explains everything in terms that can be understood by anyone and everyone.

Thanks for your help. Sometime when I have time; I will try the procedure from your link and see what happens.
