    Hello all!

When I fired up this morning, Windows Update notified me that KB887742 is available. I had my monthly share of updates two weeks ago and Microsoft has stated that no updates should appear "out of schedule ".

My computer is speaking swedish but ...... ...... the update was offered in finnish!

I have set Windows Update to notify but nothing else (no download, no installation) and I always download the updates to the harddisk from the Windows Update Catalog. In WUC, the information was still in finnish but the file version was the swedish one.

Anyone else out there being notified of that update and experiencing language confusion?

    Thanks for Your time,
    Christer

    Hi Christer,

    Yes, but no language confusion.

Microsoft has stated that no updates should appear "out of schedule ".
Thats for security batched releases. In this case, the update is to address a bluescreen crash, not a security problem. It must be getting some hits on OCA, so it got pushed out. All is well.

You should send ben mcdonald[ms] a PM explaining the details of your language enviroment, sounds like a broken patch. I note the replaced file is HTTP.SYS, a kernel driver, which is not localized, so language is only on the installer.

Christer--If you read More Information, that update was "Released" in November 2004, but for some reason only made Critical (and therefore a subject of automatic notification) now.

It was all G-rated for me. Get it - Got it - Good. No problems. Puter speaks English only though.

    Thanks guys, for Your input!

I have come to the conclusion that the language confusion is probably an error in linking to the correct language version of the help file since the "shell" is in swedish but the "contents" pertaining to KB887742 is in finnish (If You understand what I'm trying to explain).

The KB887742-file is the swedish version but as Joe explained, it isn't localized.

Will hit the install button before bedtime.

Do let Ben know about the language issue though. There may well be a problem that M$ needs to fix and they may not know about it yet.
