I removed HELP! from your title. Any posts here are asking for help so it just clutters the title.

Do you mean that when windows loads and you get logged on the My Computer window opens on your desktop?

The MY COMPUTER WINDOW appears on the desktop, just like you clicked on it.

Windows Explorer with the correct settings can be opened exactly like the "My Computer" screen so the most likely possiblilty is that something is running explorer.exe when you start windows with those particular settings.

Easiest thing to check would be to click on start, on run, key in msconfig.exe and OK then check to see if you have it running as a start-up item. Problem is, Win2K somehow shipped without that very useful utility but you can download the XP version from Here and put it in \winnt\system32 and it will work fine. Handy thing to have for more than just this problem too.

There are other places that can be starting it but that is the easiest to check.

Good idea also to scan your PC for virus and spyware infestations.

    NEWT,
    THANKS!!!
I was stumped because i didn't have msconfig and your help on where to find it solved the problem...i had a corrupted program installation that was the problem. i removed it and reinstalled it with no problem. the first time i installed it i was impatient and was closing all the open windows just before the reboot and somehow the MY COMPUTER window got hung up and appeared each reboot. when i unchecked the program in msconfig startup, the window did not appear any more. problem solved..thanks again
