    Hello,
I am prety new to this forum, and hope my issue is posted in the right place.

My computer was infected with the DMVLite.
noahdfear from "Removing Spyware & Viruses" Forum had provided me with great help to remove it. The entire thread can be reviewed there.
However, I still have 2 problems, as a result of DMVLite.
Norton AntiVirus starts scaning the computer automatically, each and every time, I reboot the computer.
I looked for any settings, and cannot find any to prevent it.
Can any one help me to resolve it?

The second problem is a subfolder in the Recycler Folder,
(S-1-5-21-944543212-2373015327-2664927207-1006) which was identified as infected by RAV scan, and I cannot delete.
Can anyone advice me as to how it can be deleted?
(I tried to delete it in safe mode too)

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance...

    Barry

    Barry,

What version of Norton's are you using? To delete the file, did you try closing every program but Explorer.exe?

Most likely it is 'in use' with Windows running. Try MoveOnBoot

    Thanks for your reply.

I am using Norton Corporate Edition 7.61.930

Regarding the folder that I am unable to delete, do you mean to close all the programs in the bottom of the tool bar, next to the time?

    Thanks,

    Barry

I think Mike was referring to ....

Right click on an empty area of the Task Bar > Task Manager > Processes tab and right click on all processes except explorer.exe > End process.

    IMO try MoveOnBoot

    Barry,

Pete is correct in what I was trying to say. There should be a setting that you can change that will stop the system from scaning at startup. Take a look at this, or here is the support page for your product.

Cannot find any settings to deselect the automatic scan on booting.

I strongly believe it has to do with the spyware/addware, the computer was infected with.
Therefore, to fix it, it would need to be done most likly in the registry, which I do not know how.

If any one comes across any suggestion, I wouls greatly appreciate it.

    Thanks again,

    Barry

Best advice - don't use Norton

Norton AV and IS are tightly integrated with Internet Explorer.

Why is this a problem? Try this, search Google for "Internet Explorer exploit" like so:
    http://www.google.com/search?q=Internet+Explorer+exploit
and don't be surprised at the 2.5 million results.

Now, what programmer in their right mind would tie a computer security product in with THE MOST INSECURE PROGRAM ON THE INTERNET? And no informed user would want to use such a product either. Use an anti-virus that doesn't, like Kaspersky or F-Secure.

As to the subfolder in the Recycler Folder, you'll have to get rights to it first.

Right-click on it, click on Properties, Security, add yourself and check all privileges to the folder. Now you can delete it.

    Cheers!
