Recently (after buying Doom3) I purchased the card mentioned in the title so that the game play in Doom3 would be smoother than the Integrated video card on my P4R800-VM (asus). After disabling the int. card in the bios, and installing the card .... drivers etc... My machine now crashes in almost all the games I have(FA (mod for HL), Rise of Nation, Doom3  , Anarchy-online, etc...) I looked for drivers( even beta) on nvidia but nothing I do seems to be able to resolve the situation. I'm now forced to play games on my slower machine because it won't crash. help me obi wan kenobi, you're our only hope !!

Well I played with different drivers from nvidia and asus for the MB. To now avail I can't seem to be able to do anything. I'm wondering if I should ciontact asus or nvidia. How can I check which one of the two are not working.

    Things tested

I went to the nvidia archives and got all drivers that supported the DirectX 9 version and downloaded them, and repeated this process:

    - uninstall current driver
    - reboot
    - install test driver
    - reboot
    - adjust settings
    - play game (crash)
    - reboot -> back to step one

It seems that every time that I have trouble with a motherboard is when it has integrated componants on it ... anyway if any of you see something that I should have tried or whatever, please post it, solutions are sometimes in the link of a link

I probably could not add much.

Are you removing the drivers using Add/remove programs (I would even try this in Safe Mode)? I think you will find that the card manufacturers recommend using their uninstall program rather than removing the drivers in Device Manager. Check for the manufacturers method of removing and reinstalling the drivers.

If you did not "remove" the original onboard graphics drivers before installing those for the new card, maybe switch back to the onboard card (after removing the current drivers) install the drivers for the onboard graphics. Uninstall the onboard drivers, then try again with the new card (try to follow their instructions as closely as possible). The trick may be to completely remove any and all drivers before installing the new set
