Running Win2k on the client PC and have setup Remote Destop Connection on the client PC to connect to a Terminal Server (running Win Server 03).

    The Problem:[/B]
Our client logs on to the TS and then to JDE XE program. Upon minimizing the JDE session, the Remote Connection disconnects after a few minutes. The TS session is left active. If their JDE session is not minimized there is no dis-connect.

We have other clients in different physical locations and this problems does not occur.

I have researched the settings for the Terminal Server using Win Server 2003 and am fairly certain that it is not a problem there. The issues seems to be on the local PC. On the Remote Desktop settings I have turned off all Local Resources. I have set the 'Connection Speed' on the 'Experience' tab to 'Broadband' - the client has a DSL connection out of the building.

I would appreciate any assistance you may have!

Have you checked the event logs on both that PC and the server for any clues?

Does the app fire up OK after the disconnect?

JDE XE - is that the JD Edwards & Co app that PeopleSoft acquired a year or so ago?

    hi out there

Is the client connected to the server via a WAN connection with VPN ? if so it could be a MTU related problem even thought it sounds weird to me that it is only if the applikation is minimised - but could again be caused by a full screen refresh then - when the application is minimised - is the desktop then useable until it is disconnected or does it "hang" ?
    regards /ti

    Thanks for the response!

    tiwang -
The connection is made through a businsess class DSL (768k) that runs at an average of 87% utilization.

    Newt -
"JDE XE - is that the JD Edwards & Co app that PeopleSoft acquired a year or so ago?" Yes, that is the one...and as you know it is now Oracle!

The local PC is still functional while the Terminal Server session is minimized and continues to function after the disconnect.

I have not checked the event logs on both that PC and the server for any clues...but I will.

    Thanks for the assist!!

    hi again lhuntsman
have you solved your problem ? if not - I think that either I have misunderstood the behavior of your problem or I might have explained myself a bit unclear - when you minimize the appliacation, do you mean that you minimize the remote desktop or only the application running in the remote desktop ? because - if you minimize the application in the remote desktop windows you'll probably force a full screen-refresh which could cause ip packets larger than 1462 which is max size through a VPN connection over a DSL cabe modem - and this would cause disconnectes if it has the DF bit set.

Hello tiwang and thanks for your response.

The users are minimizing the Remote Desktop...the JDE application is usually running as well and is minimized along with the Remote Desktop (sorry if I state the obvious).

We have someone on-site at our client's location now and I have passed your latest information on to him.

    Thanks!
