I'm having a bit of a strange problem that falls into the *irritating* category.

    I have a Dell Dimension desktop. P4 3Ghz 1G RAM WINXPS2.

The Dell computer came bundled with the typical trial programs. One of these programs is Paint Shop Photo Album 5. A program that I have little or no use for.

I recently upgraded my DVD authoring software from Sony's MyDVD 5 to MyDVD 6 Deluxe. It works like a charm, except for this annoying problem:

Whever the MyDVD app is launched, MSinstaller launches as well for additional components of Photo Album 5!?!?! As far as I know, these two programs are un-related. Sony has an affiliation with Adobe and their bundled photo applications - but not with Jasac - as far as I know.

This problem is intensified for a couple of reasons. First of all, the installer will not go away after one cancel - but rather after several repeated cancels. Secondly I cannot find my Dell shipped Paint Shop/Photo Shop installation disk (in hopes that it would just find whatever it is looking for and install it). I can find every single other Dell disk but that one (I am sure that it is *my* fault - that I misplaced that one disk when unpacking the boxes).

I tried completely uninstalling Photo Shop 5 - but that has not helped. I am unsure if there is a registry item I can delete or another route I can take to keep this from happening.

The problem is not critical - all programs function fine once the installer is canceled several times - but I enjoy a flaw free system (when possible) and this particular flaw is annoying. I do a lot of DVD authoring from my DV and it is a pain to have to go through this with every single MyDVD launch.

    Any suggestions?

RegSeeker will search your registry for specific entries which can be deleted, with back up. Worth looking at?

And while you're downloading RegSeeker, you can go to Start -> Run -> type "msconfig" (without quotes) -> klick OK -> select the "Autostart "-tab and unselect the corresponding box to the program you don't want to autostart.

Did you solve your problem. If so; how? I'm having the same problem with Microsoft's Antispyware program. When I attempt to open it; my Cd creator wants to install. Like you said very irritating!
