Hi, I have an Epson 1250 perfection scanner running on Win XP SP2. I scanned around 30 pages of a book this afternoon then restarted the computer and scanned about 30 more. When I exited, I didnt' select new names for each of the 30 scans, and when I realised this afternoon's scans were about to be overwritten, I selected "no" each time it asked me if I wanted to over-write them. I thought the software would automatically assign new names but it didn't and I can't find the scans anywhere.

Previously I've been able to find recent scans in Epson's folder under Program Files, but this time no. I can't think what sort of file extension would have been assigned, so searching doesn't help.

I didn't bookmark the pages I was scanning so it would be a real pain in the bum to have the start the job again. Can anyone think of a place I could look in my system?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
    Jo

Try a search for *.tiff files - this, I think, is one of the common file forms in which flatbeds save scan images. I don't have access to my flatbed right now to check on this.

Scan another picture or whatever, click save as and then pay special attention to the folder it's saving to and also the file type. If you haven't been changing either when you scanned things in the past, this should show you the file type and the folder it's defaulting to.

My Epson stylus cx6400 scans unaltered files as "img0001.bmp" and each scan is incremented 0002,0003 etc. The location is "My Documents ". You can select a folder to store the scans and also select bmp, tif, jpg (two types).

Do a search with Agent Ransack for img* or some other such thing or do an advanced search for the date you did the scanning.

    Thanks for all your replies.

I was just coming back to report that I had found the scans by searching for *.* with Friday's date and there they were in windows/temp with .jpg extensions. Whew!

    Thanks for your suggestions.
