I Was using my PC (Laptop)under a certain Profile (with Administrator Rights)...now I have joined a Domain which now I cannot seem to access any of my files under this new Profile. They show encrypted. I want to know how to de-encrypt them so that I can use them in this new profile...Any suggestions would be greatly appreceiated. Thank You....

If you joined a domain you are under a different profile now. You may have the same name but its a different profile now (domain\username). It sounds like all you need to do is add your new account to the local machines administrators group, becuase only your local account is in it, and you should have access. So when you go in to the administrators group change the path of users from local machine to the domain list and select your domain user account.

If you've already done that post back and well think of something else to check.

    AdminGroup

Thanks for helping. Well I went in as Admin. and noticed something kindof Strange. The domain\useraccount was in the administrator group but not in the users group. I could not add it to the users group because the systerm did not like the \ character. I tried using ID@xxx.xxx.com but ran out of room to add everything and could only get up to the c in the word com.
    Thanks for your assistence.

Im not sure what you mean by add to users group. Something might not be right.

If your domain account is in local administrators group you should be able to gain access becuae admins have key to decrypt.

    users group

Sorry to confuse you. I meant to say within Admin Tools, Computer Management, Local Users and Groups.

The domain\useraccount is not a member when you open up Users.

It is however part of the Admin. Group. when you open up Groups.

The only problem when I am in as the domain\useraccount I am getting access deny opening files. Word, Excel, etc....

Not sure what might be up here...

It should not be listed among the "users" since that is strictly accounts local to that PC

Make sure the only group containing your domain account is the admin group. If it is in several, it will be using the most restrictive set of rights.
