spybot errors has anyone else have prob.

have installed spybot search and destroy on over a hundred machines with no problems and excellent results. in the past week or so have had nothing but problems with the download updates. giving a checksum error on the first download file. have emailed spybot but no response yet. anyone else had this problem ???

 

I think today is the first time this week I've looked for updates, so I can't say anything about earlier in the week, but I can tell you I've been getting the bad checksum error all day today. Checked out the FAQ section @ Spybot, and it says something about too many people trying to download at once. Maybe I'll try again in the middle of the night or something...
So yes, I'm having the problem too, but I'm hoping it's temporary!

i've been trying for days and at all times of the day and all on different computers. i know its a popular product but if one cant get the updates then your leaving yourself open to attach. hope i get an email from them that they are at least aware of the problem.

spybot up date

Hey I have been having the same problem also, and found an update for it on another site.

www.techspot.com/download149.html

This updates the detection rules for Spybot Search and Destroy.

Only needed if you do not want to use the update function integrated into Spybot-S&D.
I personally would rather use it, but what are you goin to do. What you can right?

Change the download site at the top of the update page.

 

Yup! Tried it last night on a fresh install. From the default download site, only part of the updates came through. One gave me a bad checksum error. Changed the download location to USA and no problems.

Tried downloading the update the usual way a few minutes ago, and it worked okay this time. Didn't read your postings here until just now, but for future reference, would you please tell me how to change the download location? I know the Spybot S&D FAQ talked about using different mirrors, but I only see a choice of "See-cure (Europe)" and "Download updates" (although I've made note of Jamie's site as well).

Click the arrow to the right of "See-cure (Europe)" for a drop-down.

 

Jeez, never noticed that arrow before -- thanks for the tip!

 

I get message "no update site selected" but the link for selecting the site does not work, it tells me to click on the update button it cannot find a site to download from. What am I missing?
