I dont know what is the problem. My notebook keep shutting down while i am watching DVD. I dont think theres a problem with the battery as i put it on direct power supply. It keep happening after 30 or so minutes watching DVD. It shutdown. I turned it on back again and continue playing the DVD and now it only took a few minutes before it turned off again. It happens everytime. What could be the problem? Help me pls.. Thanx.

May be an overheating problem and the PC is being shut down automatically to avoid damage.

Any evidence that the cooling fan is running?

Everest should indicate mobo and CPU temps together with fan speed - Computer > Sensor in the LH pane

I think you will find that playing a DVD places a fairly heavy, continuous load on the CPU which 'normal' use does not. You can check this out on the Performance tab of Task Manager. Minimizing Task Manager places a usage meter in the notification area where you can monitor CPU activity while playing a DVD.

While you are watching a DVD I take it you are not moving the mouse or doing anything else on the computer but watching the movie. Do you have your computer setup to close down (hibernate) when the keyboard or mouse has not been used for a period of time?

    $100.00 it's the video card...!!!

I would almost bet the video-card in your notebook is inadequate. Just because you have a DVD-ROM doesn't guarantee you can watch a movie on DVD --- I'm curious as to how old the computer is and how much RAM memory it has and how much is either dedicated to video or on the card itself???
