When using the six floppies to start XP setup all is fine until I get to diskette number six. After a few moments the system shuts down. This also happens with other boot diskettes or they just wont run. Any help would be appreciated.
The computer is a newly built AMD with Asus motherboard.

Humor me and try this XP Boot Disk

Download that file and run it with a blank floppy in your drive bay. It will create the XP Boot Disk for you.

Keep us posted on your results.

I think you must have a hardware problem. That would point to the new MOBO so check all your connections, review the hookup diagram and be sure all jumpers are set correctly for the processor you are using. Be sure the processor is seated properly and has the proper heat conducting paste or tape applied. Fans running? etc. Any error message?

It could possibly be the CD rom drive so try a substitute if possible. Check the cable for proper orientation.
