Had a strange thing happened to my CD Drive and Windows installer -- neither available. Rather than waste time, I resorted to my image backup. Unfortunately, I can't seem to get Profile switch to go to my other partition (F: ) where my current profiles are held.

There must be a simple way to have Mozilla (1.7.5) accept the profile on drive F:. Right? I hope, hope.

If you are a single Profile keeper, like having just the "default" profile, it must sit in the default location. Of course, there is no rule against having new profiles anywhere else you want. The Registry.dat file must be in the default location.
I have only one drive, now, but eight profiles, in different places.

    Westside,
Thanks. Yes, I had two profiles, one in the default location and the other in a separate partition. It had been working very well until, of course, when I had to restore my image backup. The image was made before the new location. I simply cannot remember just how I got the browser to go there.

    I'll check the registry.dat file.

I don't know if what you did has any connection with what I did. But, if a profile is removed, from the profile manager, without deleting the files, the folder remains where it is was originally located, but does not communicate with your program. Should I decide to restore the same profile, I create a profile, with the identical name as the original (the location may vary). so, if you folder is still on the hard drive, you create a profile with the same name, and select the same location as before. However, I know nothing about restoring via an Image.

I tried just as you said but it refuses to accept the new location. I did it successfully before the image restore. Now, even with the same name, it started a new profile, not going to the named location. Weird.

Image restore restores the entire HDD partition, including data, apps and OS. Takes about 12 minutes. The restored image contains a profile that was about 10 days outta date. I had made the new profile in a separate, hidden partition. Now, however it doesn't seem to want to cooperate.

    I'll keep trying. Thanks,
    Bob

    Bob,
I am not familiar with Image restore, but do you have the Profile folder, physically, present on the HD? If so, have you tried to create (again) the profile in whatever location you prefer. Is the default folder accessible. You may need a complete connection from your program to the profiles.

    Westside,
Thought I was doing it properly. But, at this point, I'm not sure of anything. As I remember it:

I callup Switch Profile > Manage Profiles > Create folder > Type in name and assign path. In this case the path is F:\MozProFile\rdavis-cape-F.

Is that essentially correct? I have to be dropping the ball somewhere. It worked just great before I did the Image restore. Mozilla (1..7.5) is exactly the same as before the Image Restore. It just lacked the F: \ profile.

    Thanks,
    Bob

    Solved -- I hope.

    WestSide,

Tried again. Discovered I was addressing the sub-folder of F: \MozProfile as "rdavis-cape-F ". Changed it to F: \MozProfile and all was well.

Have copied my emails for past two days over to the F: \ partition. Actually forwarded to myself. All seems ok at the moment anyway.

Hope all of the foregoing is clear.
Many thanks for your kind efforts,

    Dum, dumm and dummer (Bob)
