OE Splash screen then nothing

Hello all !

As i told in the post title, i'm new (and french lol) on this forum and hope that you guys will help me with my problem.

I actually tried to find some ways to solve this problem alone searching the forum but i just cannot solve it by my own...

The problem : after having done a lot of windows updates yesterday, today my outlook express just cannot open after double cliking on it.

The splash screen appear and just disapear ! nothing happens after.

I really am in the s*** because it's one of the only way i have to work (i'm free lance grafic designer)

If you need some additionnal informations, i'm really about to give them !!!

PLEASE GUYS HELP !

 

Hi bond007lr and welcome to the forum.

Is OE the only application that is behaving badly?

What operating system are you running and what IE/OE version?

 

If you're using XP try system restore. I find this interesting as I seem to have possibly been bitten by the most recent updates also although OE hasn't been a problem for me. My problem has been frequent shutdowns and restarts of explorer. Also, I noticed frequent screen flickers (for lack of a better term). This morning I restored it using a restore point from Monday and haven't had any problems since. Guess I'll be doing some detective work although I still consider the jury as being out as far as my problem goes.

I don't mean to hijack this thread. My problems can be saved for another one if needed. I just found this interesting in light of my experience.

I'm running XP Pro SP1 and IE and OE 6 SP1 and yes this are the 2 appz which are corrupted.

Unfortunately, i've disabled my system restore 1 week ago and no restore points anymore... The fact is that i did that because i had a big spywares called People on page, CoolWebSearch and ItEye RAT and a thing called Haxdoor-H (spybot detected it with this name) and i tried to get rid of it...

but there are still traces of one of them... and i think it's CoolWebSearch... For exemple : when i make a search in Google, it always take me to a page where all the results are wrong... even if it's google design !!!! the adresse of the page is an IP adress from .cc

Anyway, even during and after those spyware stuff, OE worked fine !!!!!!! Until my visit on Microsoft windows update website

I can give you some informations if you want... Like Dr Watson log or Hijackthis ?

Would it be of some help ??????

other infos : when i try to uninstall all the updates i made with windows update, some of them tell me that if I uninstall, maybe some softwares will not run anymore ! including all my third parties software as Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign etc etc etc (actually all softwares installed on my machine...)

So I haven't uninstalled anything !

Also : when i try to boot in safe mode everything is fine !

I am really lost at this point...........
