When I went to the Comedy Central website and played a video there with WMP10, ZoneAlarm asked whether Firefox could act as a server. I said yes, watched the video, then closed Firefox. I checked in ZoneAlarm and Firefox was one of the icons on the top "listening to port... "

I looked in the program preferences in ZoneAlarm and saw that the Trusted Zone and Internet Zone were now checked under Server. I right clicked them and set them to Ask as they had been before.

Does Firefox now need to be trusted as a server and have it listen to ports in order to watch embedded video's? Or was some spyware thing attempting to set itself up on my computer?

    Dennis,

Firefox doesn't require "Server Rights" despite what ZA might claim. There's an auto-updater which probably triggers ZA. You can disable it here:
Tools | Options | Advanced | Software Update

If you're like me, no "phone home" here!

Thanks. I turned that thing off now. With all the browsing thru forums I do, it's rare that I miss an update for long.
