I'm just browsing in FireFox, minding my own business, when suddenly, the screen blanks out for a few seconds, and when it comes back, everything is just like it was except rotated 90 degrees to the left. I.e., the taskbar at the bottom is now along the right side of the screen and moving the mouse up moves the cursor to the left. I changed the resolution and color depth a few times to see if that might jar Windows back into normalcy, but no such luck.
All the programs still seem to work, except it's completely unusable! I've rebooted into safe mode to write this.

Of all the retarded things Windows has ever done, this takes the cake. How do I get my world back on its axis?

You'll probably have to try a substitute monitor to determine if your old one has failed, hardware wise.

Although most monitors have a rotation adjustment, they never have that much range, just a few degrees generally. It wouldn't hurt to try it though. The control button are usually on the front of the monitor, the arrows and +- ones.

    Fixed my own problem

I looked through the display control panel before I posted to see if it said anything about rotation, but since it's hard to concentrate with a neck cramp from tilting your head to the left, I overlooked this part: Under the Settings tab, click advanced, then Intel Extreme Graphics, then graphics properties, then rotation. It lets you rotate by 90, 180, or 270 degrees. Your video card may vary.

Setting it to 180 would make a mean April Fool's Day trick for someone. It sure freaked me out. I'm just relieved this wasn't a serious problem.
