Outlook new mail popup equivilent

I am trying to migrate our users away from Outlook and Outlook Express.

One of the features in Outlook is to set a popup alert to let the user know new email has arrived. This is a dialog box popup presented on screen...not in the task bar.

Does Thunderbird 1.0 have this capability or extension ?
I can't seem to find it.

These days when people resent any kind of popup, I don't think that there is anything like it. And, there are so many varieties , many of which you have to pay for!
I would dislike it, if the popup requires an ok. In fact, if there is anyway to avoid repeated popups telling me that the mail client cannot connect with one of my servers. I have been getting as many as five popups in a row.

 

which one do you use for thunderbird ?
