My oldest son just purchased a Dell computer, with a 160 g harddrive. Is it a good idea to partition it, into at least 2, maybe 3 partitions? If so, can someone direct me to a link/thread somewhere, that describes exactly how to do this? Also , he has already saved some information to the harddrive, will this effect that info, if we go ahead and partition?
    thanks,

Do a search on here using partition as your search term, 6 months for the time frame and XP as the forum. Of the 160+ hits, at least 10 of them have partitioning discussions and you should be able to tell from the title.

    Yes!

PartitionMagic (now owned and produced by Symantec) will allow you to partition painlessly, without affecting any data on your hard drive. It's available online for as little as $14, but for an extra $6 you can get it with a manual.
