On an exam for a technnology managment class was the following question:

Windows 2000 Backup can create a backup to the following types of media:

    A)tapes only
    B)zip disks only
    c)tapes and zip disks
d)tapes, zip disks and recordable cd-roms.

The correct answer was listed as d)

My interpretation of the question was can you create a backup directly to the specified media. I don't recall 2000 supporting direct writing to a cd-burner.

My thought was that if you wanted to save to a cd-r you would need to create the backup to a file and then use the burner software to burn that file to the cd-r.

Can 2000 write to a cd-r disk natively like XP? Or does backing up to a disk require the use of the application software that came with the burner?

    Just curious.

    CD-R backup

You are correct to the best of my knowledge. W2K will not record natively to a CR-R. Of course there are numerous 3rd party apps that do this directly.
