The title says it - i have been using Ghost 2002 to create sysprepped HDD images for redistribution. I thought I could get away from using floppies to push out the sysprep answer file by placing the file inside the .gho file before distribution, using Ghost Explorer, but it wont do anything with ntfs partitions, which all my images are.

Ghost v9 has a component called Backup Image Browser, but it will only let the user take files out, not put them in.

Is there anyway I can edit files within a ghost file, or is there any other product that will let me do this?

    Thanks

Composite image files created by disk imaging software are not editable under any circumstances. That applies to all available imaging software creations. Once you create the image, it's written in stone. You change it by replacing it entirely.

    Sorry.

Thanks for your replies. It is a shame I cannot edit the files, would save me alot of time.

Chevota - I opened the link you gave and all my spyware warning software and AV software lit up like a christmas tree, I have several infections from that site now so won't be posting there but thanks for your time

    Hello Grunty!

I don't know to where the link provided by chevota would take me but it's not to RADIFIED and with Your experience and warning ...... ...... I won't even try it.

I'm a long time RADIFIED visitor and the site is perfectly safe ...... ...... if You use the link in my signature!

    Now to the issue:

An image created of a NTFS partition can not be edited but files can be extracted.

An image created of a FAT32 partition can be edited as well as files being extracted.
(I've never done any editing but according to the user guide, it is possible.)

Hmmmm - this link issue needs some investigation. The link in chevota's post looks identical to the one at the bottom of Christer's so if Christer's is good, the other one should be as well.

Grunty - I think the problem may be on your end. Chevota's link and Christer's 'radified forum' link both go to the radified forum site. Spoofstick agrees with what I am seeing.

No spyware, no virus, no problem when I went there from either link. I'm not registered there so didn't enter but I'm certain I had the forum front-end on screen.

Yes, I see now, that the links are identical!

I sped too fast to clear a good site from the reputation of being a bad one!!
