    Progress!

I got the trailer to play in both Moz and FF.

How? I removed the nppl3260.dll from both netscape and Moz.
Then i installed the activex plugin.

Results: I get an error msg "Plugin performed an invalid operation, strongly
suggest you restart Navigator" when i get to the page to select the trailer but
before i even click on the trailer!

I ignore the error msg, click on the trailer and it plays. The "change settings "
shows that realplayer is not available for selection.

So, maybe Ramona is correct in thinking that the culprit is the nppl3260.dll!!

" Only the npmozax.dll should be deleted since they are specific to each version, it seems. ". This is what I had at the end of my previous reply. The Active X plugin is discussed in this article. All you need to do is to scroll down until you see:IMPORTANT in capital letters, and blinking. You will also see what the plugin does.
I think that you could have delete the file, and then reinstalled Real Player, if you care. That is what I said in a previous reply: "It could be corrupted, but it should not affect the viewing of the clip. Maybe it could be deleted, and Real Player reinstalled. "
In my case, I have a choice of three player, and all of them work great.

So, nothing we already don't know.

    Westside,

Went there and installed the plugin for Moz 1.7, then ran the test page and it
worked. Rebooted, and started Moz. The trailer did play!

Only problem now is that error msg "Plugin performed an invalid operation,
strongly suggest you restart Navigator ". Trouble is, it dont tell me which
    plugin is causing the problem.....

At least i can see the trailers now.

Got to do a fresh backup then i'll start looking at the plugin error fixes...

Thanks for all the support Westside and Ramona.

    clif,

In the settings on the Yahoo trailer page, select Media Player only. Replace the nppl3260.dll, if it interferes again, then rename it Xnppl3260.dll. I'm thinking that if you select Media Player only, but have the RealPlayer plugin in place, you might not receive the error...

In what folders are the npmozax.dll files you found:

    clif,

There is an updated Real Alternative 1.30, and I wondered if this is what you have installed? I found it here: http://www.free-codecs.com/download/Real_Alternative.htm

I note on the screen shot that there is an option for a RealMedia Plugin for Opera, Mozilla, and Netscape. Is this what you opted for?

Trying to find more information on the Real Alternative.

    Hi Ramona,

I have npmozax resident in 2 folders now. Got them from the ActiveX plugin
page that Westside posted, so they are browser specific.

I have RP-Alt 1.29 installed now and only get the plugin error using Moz.
FF will play trailers fine now (with no error).

I'll install the RP-Alt 1.30 even tho it says just minor changes.

    Thanks for the help,
    savagcl

Here we have another one. Real Alt may not be such a great idea, but I cannot comment on its use because I ket it about five minutes. It has an annoying habit of of trying to perform certain operations, although it can't. For instance there seemed to be only one type of playlist preference, and that encompassed .pls file, which I want to keep under Winamp, and it failed to work with WMP .asx files. May be the new version has taken care of this.
It seems to be that it is trying to be a jack of all trades, and master of few.

As for the npmozax.dll file you get the error which was mentioned if you got the wrong one. But, who knows? I have 104Kb files in Netscape7.2 and Common File, and 108 Kb for Mozilla1.8a6 and Firefox1.0. None in Mozilla1.7.5

I dont actually run Real-Alt, its only has the codex's for realplayer. which
winamp will use to play RA, RM files. You have to have the TARA plugin for
winamp and then you need to mod the Nulsoft Directshow Decoder found in
Preferences>input - highlight directshow and click on configure then add the
extensions that you want seperated by a semi-colon.

Dont quote me on this but i believe if you have RP-Alt installed, then The full
RP should be un-installed for the RP=Alt to work correctly.

TARA does not need to be configured except maybe the "Process audio
through winamp" but it does need to be there.

The point is, there is no need to have realplayer installed, and all RP files can
be played through wimamp including RP video file. It took me a coupla days to
get it straight with some help from the winamp community. But i think it
works great and i dont have all the "other" stuff that RP insist on having.

    I have:
    Mozilla npmozax 1.7.5 = 104kb, Netscape 4.9 = none, Common files = none,
    firefox 1.0 = 108kb.

    interesting, eh!
Think i'll swap npmozax around some and see what happens.

    thanks,
    savagcl

Well swapping them to match what u have didnt work to good.

Netscape 4.9 gave me the error of "could not load the plugin active x control
and plugin support for the mime type applicatopn/oleobject ".

Mozilla just did an automatic close when i clicked on the trailer file.
    Firefox played OK.

Think i'll put them back and leave well enough alone. Maybe the next update
    will fix things up.

    thanks,
    savagcl

"Netscape 4.9 "? Don't bother answering unless you discovered something new.
As for for the npmoxax.dll files, the same link which has the downloads lists the only browsers which are compatible. I would delete the file, and never swap.
    Otherwise follow Ramona's suggestion.
I am not interested in the Tara plugin. It is ok to play with, but Winamp does its job, and so do Real Player and WMP10. I have enough problems of other kind.

    Westside,
    Sorry, i been busy.

Yep, netscape 4.79 last one to allow for multi-part downloads. Which is
why i keep it (as long as it works). :)
The activeX page said it was compatable but now i dont think so.

Ah, well, i can use netscape to view any trailers i need to.

I dont use RP, QT or WMP unless i have to but i have added lots of plugins
to winamp and it will play all of the RP, QT, WMP files, sound and video.
So, i'm happy with it and i like the small footprint it has.

Guess you can tell i'm a firm believer in the KISS principle. :)

Thanks for your help (and time),
    savagcl

    Giggles and Grins,
Just for the heck of it, i installed netscape 7.2 - no trailers show in either
7.1, FF or Moz. So i'll stick with NS4.79 (at least it shows trailers). :)

    Ramona/ Westside,

Found it - Welllllllll, not really but i got both Moz and FF to play trailers.

I remove all browsers and then did a sweep of the registry, removing anything
that had Netscape, Mozilla, Firefox in it.

Then re-installed all the browsers and Moz/FF works. Only thing i can think of
is that something in the reg was stopping it!!!!!

    Go figure!

Anyway, thanks for your patience and help,
    savagcl :D
