I have a mailing list of 70 E mail addresses in notepad on my desk top. They do change from time to time. How do I put them in alphabetical order?Nothing I have tried seems to work. Thanks:confused:

Sorry about that. I put it in Word and asked it to sort. I should have known better. Thanks anyway

Notepad and Wordpad are older "Simply" basic word processors. I don't believe they are capable or have a function to sort a list order. I'm sure there are third party substitutes that can do this but if you a more complex word processor such as MSWORD [msoffice] you can always copy list and paste in msword [or open txt in msword] and than alphabetize the list from there.

    For instance:
Once txt file LIST is opened in MSword select menubar>table>sort>from popup make sure "paragraph" and type "Text" is selected options, ascending or descending is your choice, click OKAY and list is sorted.

Ther additional options for this sorting so you may wish to explore the directions via words help file system.

Another thought, although this may take some patience and time, is using your own email program to sort this list prior to a copy and paste into a *.txt file. Havn't done this or given any thought to what it will take but surely this is an option worth mentioning anyway.

Someone may have a handy dandy utility to recommend but the above may keep you busy while waiting.

    Thanks,
I put the list in Microsoft Word. went to table, down to sort, and that was that. As with most of this stuff, it is simple when one knows how.
