I have installed McAfee ver 9 to replace ver 7 runing in Security Center. I have DL the latest updates and dat files yesterday and rechecked this Am. The new version tries to go on line every five minutes. I have deleted the McAfee info from the MS Task Scheduling but it is replaced by the 5 minute thing. I have contacted McAfee Chat Support twice but they did not solve the problem. If I can't stop the 5 minute thingie I will uninstall ver 9 and go back to 7. Any help appreciated. I have unchecked via of msconfig any McAfee entries that look like they are for update etc.

Posting Rule #3 calls for a meaningful title. I've adjusted yours.

    Hi oldbear
It sounds like it is checking for updates.
This is not reccommended because you have to update manually.

Right Click the red M in your tool bar
    Click update
    Click configure
(On mine the top one is selected, install the updates automatically.....)
There is a "Disable automatic updating and let me manually check for updates "

If you check this one and it solves the problem, Make sure you check for updates 2 or 3 times a week.
Sometimes I will have 3 updates a week.
