Does anyone know how to hide email addresses in the global list in Outlook 2000? I am creating an email group but I do not want it to populate into the Global List for the whole company. Any help will be appreciated.

Sorry but I'm a little confused on exactly what you want to do.

    - Hide 1, 2, 3, more email addresses
    - Create a hidden DL (distribution list / group)
    - Something else

Also, Exchange server or something else?

If you are using Exchange all you need to do is create the e-mail group like you would any other time. Then open the properties of that group, and go to the Exchange Advanced tab. Simply check the box "Hide group from Exchange address Lists ".

I am using an exchange server. I'll try looking in the properties for the distribution group. I'll let you know how it works.

Newt I'm trying to create a distribution list and hide it in the GLobal address list. I just checked for the advanced tab in the properties and could not find it. If you could point me in the right direction I would apprciate it.

Oh yeah we are using an exchange server.

Sorry, you must have to have the "Advanced Features" checked. To do this just click on view, and select Advanced Features.

    User Properties in AD

In Active Directory, open the properties for the user's account. Select the Exchange Advanced tab and check the Hide from Exchange address lists. The user's email will no longer be displayed in the Global Address List or distribution lists.
