ok i opened netscape (its 7.2) and i noticed that my personal tool bar was empty.... so i was like ***.... i went to the bookmarks thing and the bookmarks were there so i figured i loaded funny so i closed it and restarted it well now my bookmarks are all disapeared.... but if i go to manage bookmarks and search i kan find some of my bookmarks (so they arent gone just invisable or something....) so i searched for "netscape bookmarks disapeared" and found this site ( http://home.att.net/~cherokee67/ns71bkmkcorrupt.html ) and followed the instructions but i still cant see the bookmarks except the test one i made but can still search for and find some of the ones i know i had the problem is that i had so many i cant remember them all thats why i saved them....

are there any other ways to recover my bookmarks???? i reallly reallly need them back :( :( :(

edit: nope i was wrong about the searching..... when i was searching it was giving me my i explorer bookmarks as results.... so 75% of my bookmarks are still missing completly

    Welcome to the Forum ke6960!

    ke6960,

If you follow the suggests on the Corrupt Bookmarks page, then your only recourse would be to replace the existing file with a recent backup.

When you open your bookmarks.html file in Windows Explorer, do you see your bookmarks, and if so, what size is the bookmarks.html file? If your bookmarks.html file has decreased in size, then I would say you're bummin'!

Your bookmarks are in the *.slt folder located here:
    <path>\Application Data\Mozilla\Profiles\profilename\*.slt

Have you ever "saved" mozilla anywhere?

Try bringing up IE, and look at the bookmarks there - If they are there, then
maybe they can be imported into mozilla.

If no backup and nothing is in IE, your out-of-luck!
First, Second, and Third rules of PC'ing,
    1. backup
    2. backup
    3. backup
I learned these rules the hard way (not being sarcastic or anything like that
but those are rules to live by). :)

If you find your bookmarks, and want to import them, i'll help.

    good luck,
    savagcl

I, half, understand what is your problem. I understand that you can't see the personal Toolbar, but I have no idea what else you were doing.
And, more specifically, when you get to Manage Bookarks, what happen? Do you see your bookmarks or not? In other words is you issue only with the Personal Toolbar? If that is the case, and you know what the Personal Toolbar, go to Manage Bookmarks|View| select the folder or whatever you have|Set as Personal Toolbar. That has happened to me once when another program hijacked the toolbar, but fortunately not the content.
