My son asked if I could find out what's causing this problem...

Before my daughter-in-law checks the mail, it's bold, and when she clicks on the mail to open it, it stays bold. This just started not too long ago. It always went to normal after it was opened before.

I have IncrediMail, and I have a little envelope that opens when I click on the mail, they only have the subject, and it's always bold, so sometimes they're not sure if they had looked at some of the email.

Has anyone else had this problem with NetScape Mail??

They'll be greatly appreciative if you have any ideas on this, or know where to go to check it out.

I did try to search for this, but nothing came up.

    Thanks;

    Lorraine

Netscape the browser or Netscape the ISP?

If that's her ISP, what browser & email client?

Thanks for your reply Newt. Sorry I didn't have all the information for you, I'll try to get what I can.

I don't know anything about Netscape, so I didn't know what all to ask.

All I know right now is they have WinXP and Comcast for there ISP.

Will check on this, and let you know tomorrow.

    Sorry again.

    Lorraine

It does. I'll move this to the Netscape section where some folks who work with that browser/email version can help you out.

    Hi Lorraine, and Welcome!

    Have your son do this:

    Close Netscape
Open Windows Explorer and navigate to the Mail Account Folder
    <path>Application Data\Mozilla\Profiles\profilename\*.slt\Mail\pop.comcast.net
Delete all files with an MSF extension
Don't delete files without the MSF extension, as they contain the Mail

    In the *.slt folder:
    Delete the entire Cache folder
    Delete the history.dat file
    Delete the XUL.mfl file

Start Netscape, send an email to himself, and see if it remains bolded after being read.

Have him post back if he continues to have problems.

    Ramona

    Documents&Settings\XPusername\Application Data\Mozilla\Profiles\profilename\*.slt\Mail\pop.comcast.net\Inbox.msf
    Just a minor correction.
and, if the location of the folder is not known, then having him lok at this .
I am sure that you have to do something more than clicking on the mail icon to see a message. This is true, also, of Netscape.

Hi Ramona, and Westside, I would like to thank you for your replies.

My son and his wife, couldn't find the files you asked about Ramona, so they decided to go back with Outlook.

They have a business, and had someone update a program for them, and this is when they started having the problem.

I'll send your reply to them also Westside, just incase they wan't to try again.

Hopefully , theses answers might help someone alse.

Again, I would like to thank you both.

    Lorraine

I did a lousy job of straightening out what Ramona entered, with a typo of my own. So, I am trying again. The files are in: C:\Documents and Settings\user_name\Application Data\Mozilla\Profiles\profilename\....slt\Mail\accountname\

and very important, these part of an hidden folder.

NOTE: These files are hidden by default.
    To see hidden files:
    1. On the Tools menu in Windows Explorer, click Folder Options
    2. Click the View tab
    3. Under Hidden files and folders, click Show hidden files and folders
    4. Disable "Hide File Extensions for Known Files. "
    5. Click OK.

This info was in the link, but may have confused him.

    Thanks Westside,

I'm printing this all out, just in-case. I never even thought about the files being hidden. That's why they couldn't find them. :(

Well if they want to try again, I'll have this information.

    Thanks again

    Lorraine
