problem trying to install Lexmark printer & error

    C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\AUTOEXEC.NT. The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft applications. Chose "Close" to terminate the application.

    does anyone know what is causing this to come up when I try to install it?

    I don't have Windows Xp. I have Windows 2000, will this still work?

    I've never explored how it was written so I can't tell you for sure. The only snag would be if it didn't use the environmental variable to designate the OS folder and your OS folder wasn't what was specified. I doubt it would cause any problems in any case. I base that on heresay and list the reference below:

    I think it's in #10 post there but read them all for better insight into your problem. I think some new software is causing a rash of this lately and I'm sure it's a good idea to keep that fix handy for future use. Some people have indicated that AVG7 may be implicated but I haven't had it do that in my system.
