Computer not booting when usb device is plugged in.

    ok its really strange. whenever I have anything usb like my ipod or printer or camera plugged in the computer will not boot. it will go through the post beep then its just a black screen. if anyoene has any hints like a setting somwhere I missed. I hate unplugging everything.

    yes this is for windows thought. this happenes to me when I first boot he computer before the OS loads. right after the post beep. Im thinking there is a setting in the cmos that isnt right

    Did you check your registry setting like the article mentions?

    yup. I dont have the registry for what it mentioned. but even if I did it woundlt come into play becouse all this happenes before windows starts.

    I had an issue like this with a USB hard drive, where the system would post, and then just go black.

    See how your boot order is set up in your BIOS. You might have a reference to "Removable storage" or "Removable media" Your bios might be mistaking you iPod as a portable hard drive.


    I have my BIOS set to boot immeadatley from the hard drive.
