Windows Updates

    Windows updates hangs at the download site. For example
    0kb of bla bla bal Kb downloaded. Nothing is in event viewer and I can download other programs off the net. Anyone have this problem?

    Are you running SP4?

    Have you tried dumping cookies, TIFs, history and then from start => run doing
    Code:
    sfc /scannow
    to make sure your PC is pretty sludge free?

    Also would be helpful to know that you are running AV and spyware removal apps since some virus and malware infestations can cause this sort of problem - they have a vested interest in your not being fully patched.

    This is a friends machine, it only has SP2. I'm trying to clean it up for him. It had spyware/trojans etc... He didn't have any AV. I ran Trends Sysclean a couple of times until it came up clean. Then ran spybot to remove the spyware. everything there comes up clean also, now that is. I have dumped the cookies and temp files.
