What might have happened is that parts of Nero got corrupted with the install of anydvd. Have you tried uninstalling, reinstalling Nero since getting anydvd off?

Not a good idea to have two programs like this - burning software - on the system together. They may use common .dll files and uninstalling one doesn't fix the damage.

FWIW, AnyDVD isn't burning software. It's just a program (a driver really) that enables you to burn DVDs that you ordinarily wouldn't be able to. It attempts to read the copywrite protection on a disk and thus enables a burning program the ability to read it. It works like this. You attempt to use a burning program (any program) to copy a DVD. The DVD is copywrite protected so your burner can't read it. Enter AnyDVD. You start AnyDVD and if it's able to figure out the copywrite protection being used, your burner will be able to read it and thus your burning program will be able to copy it. In order for the burning program to be able to copy it you must have Any DVD running. In short, it's a driver of some sort that allows your DVD burning program(s) to burn DVDs that are copywrite protected.

I wouldn't doubt that it could be the cause of bazeze's problem but I can't say for sure. It's no different than installing any other type of driver. The only thing that makes me wonder if it's the source of the problem is that the program was uninstalled. I would think that if it was the cause, that would have cured it.

I know this isn't much help but I thought I'd post this just to clear the air as to what it is we're dealing with here.

No problem Charles. The only reason I know anything about it is because I recently bought a DVD burner. Never had one before. I've got many hours of video of my kids through the years and I guess that was the main motivator for me to purchase the burner. Anyway, of course, one of the first things I had to do was to try to copy one of the DVDs I had just to see how it all works. Well, the first one I tried, I got an error message about the drive not being ready or some such thing. I couldn't have that, so it led me to AnyDVD. Using it I was able to copy the DVD but I soon found that it isn't the answer to all of them. It works for some, but not all, but I can say that I haven't had any problems since I installed it. About the only suggestion I can give for bazeze's problem would be to uninstall and reinstall Nero as you stated previously (sorry bazeze). If that doesn't do it , I don't know. Wish I had a better answer.

    Will I purchase AnyDVD??? I don't know. The jury's still out. :)
